Overview
Perth’s smallest coastal suburb, Watermans Bay, has just eight streets of high-end homes nestled between the ocean and a large bushland reserve.
The suburb lost the word “bay" from its name in the 1960s thanks to a bureaucratic technicality (its sandy coastline is not strictly a bay), but residents lobbied hard and in 2003 the suburb reverted to its original name.
Watermans Bay is on Perth’s northern beaches, about 18 kilometres from the central business district.
One side of the suburb borders West Coast Drive and the Indian Ocean, the other is marked by the edge of the Star Swamp Bushland Reserve, 96 hectares of largely untouched bush.
